I bought this thinking it would be the start of a beautiful, ever-growing storage setup. Sadly, that dream came crashing down fast. The upgrade options feel really limited, and once you start looking at expanding, the costs get way higher than I expected. If your storage needs might change later, this probably isn’t the one I’d count on.

I use the Synology mobile app pretty much every day to check files and photos from my phone, and it’s been really solid. Setup was simple too — I signed in, it found my NAS without any drama, and I was basically good to go.

The background photo uploads have worked well for me, and it’s super handy being able to pull up documents when I’m away from home. Is it the flashiest app ever?? Not really, but it does exactly what I need it to do.

I think I had one small sync delay once, but it wasn’t a big deal and sorted itself out. Overall, I’m really happy with it and use it way more than I expected.

I checked the drive compatibility list before buying, and my HDDs literally worked on the first try. No weird setup problems or anything, I just plugged them in and it recognized them right away.

I’ve updated it twice now and everything’s still working like it should. I usually trust my gut with these things, and so far I’m feeling good about it.

My NAS started having issues while it was still under warranty, so I reached out to support thinking it would be straightforward. Instead, they kept asking me the same questions over and over, and replies would take days. The RMA process also felt slow and kind of confusing. The product itself is okay, but the service really let me down. Overall, it just felt..

I moved everything from my old Synology to the new one, it went smoother than I thought it would. It did take a while, but all my files and settings came back fine in the end. My only real gripe is that some of the communication and instructions weren’t very clear, so I spent extra time second-guessing what I was supposed to do. Still, the migration itself worked out well

Setup was super quick, and it works easily, no hassle at all. it was a breeze to get going

The return process took a few days, but my refund came through just fine. i was happy to see it all handled without any hassle!

DSM just works for me. I haven’t had to mess around with it much, and that’s exactly what I like about it. It does what I need without turning into a hassle. If anything ever does go wrong, I’d expect the company to step up and make it right, but so far my experience has been smooth.

I’ve been using it for a little while now, i feel lot better about keeping my files here. The privacy settings are easy to understand, which is big thing for me, and it just feels safe enough for everyday use

The cloud setup works, but it feels a bit "clunky" to get through. I was able to figure it out, but the process could definitely be more straightforward and user-friendly

Am I the only one who just wants something simple and reliable for backups? This has been okay for me so far and does what I need without much hassle

I’ve been using my Synology for a while now and it works really well overall. Setup wasn’t too hard, which was nice, but the noise is more noticeable than I expected. The fan is pretty much always there in my small office, especially at night when everything else is quiet. It’s not terrible or anything, just really kind of annoying sometimes. I do wish it ran quieter right out of the box

It runs quick most days, and file transfers have been smooth for me. I did have one backup that got kinda slow after an update, but overall the speed has been solid, imo.

I bought this for home backups, and so far it’s been exactly what I hoped for. The hardware feels tough, and my brain just goes, “quiet + sturdy = probably reliable.” It runs every day without making a fuss, which is pretty much all I need from a backup setup...

I’ve had my Synology NAS running at home for around 4 years now, it just quietly does what it’s supposed to do. No random crashes, no strange data problems, nothing that’s really made me worry. We mostly use it for backups, family photos, and a few shared folders around the house. Even when we’ve had power cuts, it’s come back up fine without any drama, which is exactly what I was hoping for. It definitely wasn’t the cheapest thing I’ve bought, but reliability-wise, I feel like it’s been worth it. I barely think about it most days, and I guess that’s kind of the whole point, right? Anyone else feel like the best NAS is the one you don’t have to constantly mess with?

It works fine, but I did notice it uses more power than I was hoping for. Not a huge deal, just something I picked up on after checking it over a few days

I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if this is just how it’s supposed to be, but my NAS gets really hot even when I’m only doing basic backups. It makes me a little nervous to leave it running for long.

I ordered from synology.com and the package showed up in good shape, so no real complaints there. It was packed well enough, which is what you’d expect. The only thing was that shipping took longer than I figured it would, and the tracking didn’t update much along the way. Not a big deal overall, but it would’ve been nice if the delivery process had been a bit smoother.

It works fine overall, but I do feel like the price is kinda high for what you actually get. Once you factor in licenses and upgrades, the costs start adding up quickly.
